“What was your favorite trip or Things you did this past Summer?”
Well, I just got home from work, I had to work some overtime because we were really busy. I do love seeing the extra money on my check but boy am I tired. On to my favorite things that I did this summer. I think the things I have enjoyed the most was spending time with my family. I have the best family ever created, they are so much fun and just a bunch of great people. As you know I took a trip up north to see my sister and her family as well as my son and his family. Of course I did time it on my Birthday so I would get really spoiled and I did! We just love visiting and catching up on what everyone is doing. There is nothing better than spending time with family.
My daughter and her family live right here in Pasadena so I get to spend a lot of time with them. My daughter and I have been able to go to dinner several times this summer and it was so nice to be able to sit and talk without interruptions. Of course my granddaughter comes over a lot when she is not traveling, (she did a lot of traveling this summer) she loves to spend the night so we can talk and be silly. Of course we to do the girl stuff, like giving ourselves facials, playing in the make-up and all the froo-froo stuff which is always fun. My grandson comes over too but not as much as my granddaughter does.
All in all I have had a wonderful summer seeing my friends and family which I love to do. Spending time with people you love and care about is just the best.

“Two Thoughts On Tuesday”
I have been amazed lately at how everything I want is just falling into place. I have been wanting to organize my storage area in the garage for about four months now and did not know how it was going to happen but I knew it would. I had some boxes and pictures to add to my storage area that were still sitting in my living room and my hall way. They were in the way and every time I looked at them, I really wanted to get them into the storage. I could not do it myself because of my disability so I had to have help. I hate asking for help. Well my granddaughter’s dad was here from Arizona on Friday because he brought her back her from her visit with him. He had just cleaned up my daughters garage and did a really nice job of it. We were standing there talking when I casually mentioned how I would love to put some more stuff into my storage and organize it too. He offered to do it for me! Yippy! Of course I said yes to the offer. Yippy! He came over the next morning to get it done and he did a great job! It is so nice to have it out of my way and into the storage. I am just thrilled to have it all done. My place looks so much better now, much cleaner and organized. Thanks to Corwin! He is such a sweetheart, I just love him.
Now while we were organizing my storage and adding more stuff my neighbor stopped by to tell me she was moving. She wanted to know if I wanted some outdoor plants, of course I did. I had been thinking that I needed to get me some flowers for the front area by my front door. She could not take them with her and wondered if I wanted them, so of course I said I would take them, Yippy. Now, they look so good out there, I am so happy to have them.
Now, I have been worried about the tires on my car and wondering if I should buy new ones, ever since my daughter told me that you should not keep tires on your car for too long. Well, I have 77,000 miles on those tires and they are five years old too. So I went to the Goodyear tire store and asked them what they think. They checked my tires and said it would be a good idea to get some new ones because the rubber is cracking on the side walls of all of the tires. They showed me what they were talking about and the tires were loosing air a lot so I had to check them all the time. I thought that it would be horribly expensive to my surprise it was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Then he told me that they have a special going on where I would get an eighty dollar rebate if I used a credit card to buy them and if it was a goodyear credit card I would get one year interest free. Hmmm …………. should I? Well it was a no brainer so I got the tires. I left there amazed that I could get such a good deal on tires that were rated best buy from Consumers Digest. I think my Angels are working overtime just for me!
I have noticed lately that anytime I think of something I want it comes to me really quick and I am just loving it, thanking God and the Angels for everything as go. I know that my life has changed quite a bit since I moved and trust me it is for the better. Everything is just falling into place so nicely that sometimes I have to pinch myself to see if it is all real! I think it is because I am so much happier now and that when you are happy it means you are in the flow and I am flowing for sure! I am loving life, isn’t it great!

The Theme for this week is ……
“What’s on your Fridge?”
So you want to know what is on my Fridge, well you will never guess so I am going to tell you. Cookies! I have a box’s of Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies, Nutter Butter cookies and Orio cookies. They are all in small packages that you put in lunches, of course they are just the right size for a snack too. I know that you would not believe that I would eat them for a snack, you would obviously think I only eat them with my lunch, right? Don’t tell but I am eating the Milano cookies as I do this post! Shhh it is a secret, don’t tell! Then I have a basket for my fruit and my lunch box. Really exciting isn’t it! As for magnets I only have one and it says, “I walk with Angels every day”! I think I need more magnets so I have more to talk about.
I can tell you about some I used to have like the one that said, “This is an equal opportunity household, Men are allowed to do housework!” or “I love Cats”, it had a cute kitty on it. Then there was the one that said, “I am having a great day, don’t spoil it.” Of course I can’t remember them all anymore there were so many and most of them were lost or borrowed by someone who needed them more that I did.
I think magnets are really cute and fun to look at. I have been so busy fixing up my place that I just have not had the time to get some. I hope I have time soon to pick up cute stuff for my new place. I did get a couch finally and it will be delivered tomorrow before I go to work. I can’t wait because I have been looking at couches since I moved into my place and have not found one that I liked until now. Most of the couches I have looked at all look the same only in different colors. It seems that no one has any creativity any more. The one I found is so cute, I just love it and it is one of those new hide a bed couches. It was half of the regular price too, such a deal! The bed is so cool, it has a bladder in the middle of the mattress that inflates so the mattress is about nine inches thick and it is really comfortable. I am so excited about having a new couch and it is one I really like.

The Theme for this week is ……
“Two Thoughts On Tuesday”
Oh boy, do I have some thoughts tonight! Well, to begin with I left work a little early so I could fill my tank up with gas and mail my stuff at the post office. I wanted to get home early enough so I could get my post up at midnight. Ha! Not going to happen!
I did get my gas all right, no problem with that. Now, for the post office, well I just could not find it and I knew it was right by my place. Where oh where was it? I kept driving up and down Colorado and I could not find it. Out of frustration I hung a u-turn in the middle of Colorado Blvd. and then I saw it, big as ever right across the street. Yip! there it was and so were the red lights in my rear view mirror. Oh no, now I had managed to get myself a ticket. There would be no way out of this one so I just resigned myself that I was going to get a ticket for an illegal u-turn. It was dark so I did not see the police officer.
The officer walked up to my drivers window, of course I had all ready put it down, I knew what was coming. He said, “drivers license and registration please.” Then he said, “Do you know why I pulled you over?” I said. “Was it the illegal u-turn?” “Yes,” he said, “you can’t do a u-turn in a business district”. I was already getting out my license so I gave that to him and told him I was getting my registration out too.
I told him I just could not find the post office and I knew it was right near here. I explained that I had just moved to Pasadena recently and I was a little lost. We chatted for a minute and the he said, “I am just going to give you a warning this time.” I could not thank him enough. Wow, only a warning. “Thank you God”, is all I could say! Yip! No ticket for me and I did deserve one.
He was the nicest officer I have ever met. No, it is not just because he did not give me a ticket. It is because he was so polite and kind. He did ask me before he left, “Do you know where the post office is now?” I said, “Yes, it is right across the street.” No, I did not whip another u-turn to get to the Post Office. I used my turn signals properly and went to the next intersection made a left turn, drove around the block and came back to the Post Office.
Now, there was something very funny that we both laughed about. One of the things I was mailing was my change of address for the DMV! He had asked me about it so I showed him the envelope, stamped and all. We just laughed. Yes is was quite an eventful evening to say the least. I did mail all of my stuff and get home in time to do my post, although it will be after midnight before it gets posted. My heart finally stopped pounding a little while ago!

“How does Music influence lives?
Do you apply certain songs to a part of your life?”
Well, I expected this week to be two thoughts for Tuesday again and I was going to do my post on what happened this weekend. We have this nice little wash room here at my complex and when I went to do my laundry well the washers worked just fine but the dryers did not. I had to hang my wet laundry all over my place to dry with all the fans going, it was a bit like a small hurricane! Stop laughing! Now I can’t do that one so I will do it on music.
Music has played a big roll in my life and I love all kinds of music. People are surprised when they see my collection of music because there is such a variety. I just play what I am in the mood for and usually always have music playing all the time.
I do remember when the minister that was speaking at my husbands funeral asked me to pick three songs for the service. Now I had just had surgery and was a little out of it so I asked my family to help me pick some out and they said that I should do this. So I did. I picked out three songs that really meant a lot to my husband and I. They we very special to both of us. The first one was a song we both loved and played on our twenty fifth wedding anniversary, Endless Love by Lionel Richie and Diana Ross. Now this really is not a song for a funeral but I picked it anyway, I was heavily medicated at the time. Yes, you will find out what the other two were soon ……
The funeral was really big, I never expected so many people to come, there were hundreds and hundreds of people there. They were standing outside and the place was just packed. I knew he that he had a lot of friends and a big family but not as many as there were.
On the ride to the cemetery the police had every intersection blocked off and they saluted the Hurst as it went by. This was because he was a deputy sheriff at the time of his death. It was quite a send off to say the least. I know he loved this and I am sure he was watching all of it.
When this song came on at the funeral I asked my daughter who was sitting next to me, “Who picked this song?” She said “You did!” I said “Oh my God! I did not know what to do at that point and really there was nothing I could do anyway.
The second song was from the movies Dirty Dancing, it was I had the Time of My Life. I wanted to jump up and go turn it off but I think it would have made things worse than they were. Not really for a funeral, it was too late to do anything anyway.
When this song came on even the minister kind of jumped and so did I. I could not believe that my family let me use this song for the funeral but they did. I was just stunned and had no idea what to do so I just sat there wondering what people were thinking.
I was really worried about what the next song was going to be and I was relieved when this came on because it was a little better than the first two.
When the funeral was over many people came up to me and told me they had never been to any funeral like this one. It was so beautiful and loving, just wonderful. They loved it! I was so shocked and here I was ready to sneak out the back door. A lot of them told me that they want to have their funeral just like this one. I was really glad I did not sneak out the back door. I still love these songs and I cherish them even more today.
Later several people told me that every time they hear the song I had the time of my life they think of my husband. It really was the way he was. He did have the time of his life here on earth, fun was the theme of his life. It still is the theme of mine. I had what most people dream of, true love. I would love to have it again but I have been told you only get to have that once in your life. I just wonder ………..
There is one more thing I have to tell you. On the day of his funeral all I could hear was his laughter and he had a very contagious laugh! I could not figure out why, it seemed so ridiculous at the time. So when my daughter and I were sitting in the living room talking I told her about hearing him laughing all day. She told me that she was pretty sure about why he was laughing so hard all day. I asked why and she said I don’t want to hurt you but your dress was on backwards! I knew that she was right because he would have found this to be really funny. No one knew so I just had the dress cleaned and wore it the right way and everyone thought it was a different dress. To think that I got so many compliment on that dress ………… do you think that they meant them?
Yes, music has played a big roll in my life and I love sharing my collection of music with my grandchildren. They each have their favorites that they want me to play for them and of course I do.

The Theme for this week is ……
“Two Thoughts On Tuesday”
My first thought is ………. I love my new Air Conditioner!!! It is so wonderful to have cool air in the house. It is 10,000 BTU’S so it cools the whole place down nicely except for my bathroom but if I use one of my fans in there it cools it down just fine. I think I will make it through this summer very nicely! I feel like I am rich now just because of the Air Conditioner.
My second thought is …………. I had such a wonderful time on my Birthday. I went up north to see my sister and her family and my son and his family, they all spoiled me rotten. I loved it. The first night I was there my son and I got to go to dinner together (only the two of us) and just visit which we rarely get to do. It was just wonderful to have some special time with him. I stayed at his house that night. My son and his family gave me a t-shirt that said “Fireman’s Mom” on it, so now when I wear it I can brag about how wonderful my son is. You know all mom’s love doing that! The next night I spent at my sisters house so I could see everyone and spend some time with them. Then my sister and all of her family took me out and we all partied together at this place called the Cliffs. It is right on the beach and it was just wonderful. We had so much fun, even my nephew Andy was there on leave from the Marines. What a party it was! My sister and I had a drink called “Decadence” and it was for sure but boy was it good! I could only drink one of them but she had two and she was feeling no pain!
Then I went to my daughters the following weekend and had a wonderful dinner and ……. are you ready …….. a Banana split ice cream pie for my cake with crooked candles on it …… it was so good! Yum! We had a blast together, the only thing missing was my granddaughter because she was in Arizona with her dad. I do miss her a lot and I can’t wait for her to come home again. What a wonderful birthday it was, so much fun and I got to see my whole family and spend time with them. Well, almost all of my family, I didn’t get to see my brothers but I will soon so it’s OK. We have so much fun just talking and laughing together. It was the best! Do I have to wait another year so I can do it again?
